[00:00:00] In the fall, Universal Studios, Florida doesn't fade into the night. It transforms. The streets grow still behind the facades you thought you knew something darker waits. What's coming isn't just a Halloween event, it's a carefully crafted nightmare.

Halloween Halloween Horror Nights was never just about the jump scares. It was about secrets that waited in the dark.. But what if I told you the real secrets lie beyond the screams? You see, I've been behind the scares. I've walked in the fog, and I've seen things the lights don't show.

Today I'm sharing some of it with you. You are about to learn to not just attend the event , but how to unlock it.

Welcome back to Unlocking Universal, your Key to all things Universal Orlando and beyond. Now here's your guide and unfair Advantage Holli.

Today we're diving into some of my absolute [00:01:00] favorite parts of Halloween Halloween Horror Nights, what I call the bonus round. You've probably heard all the buzz around haunted house lineup, ScareZones and Frequent Fear Passes. But what about the extras? Behind the scenes tours, the exclusive sneak peeks, the spooky surprises that most people don't even realize exist?

I've got all the details for you on this year's Unmasking the Horror Tours, Premium Scream Night, and why this year's Tribute Store is even more special. Plus, if you're a haunt fan or can't get enough of Epic Universe in your life, you won't wanna miss the shout out, I just have to share.

But first, a quick note about those until recently, elusive Frequent Fear Passes. If you listen to my last Halloween Horror Nights episode, you know I had some predictions, and let's just say I pretty much nailed it.

Prices went up a bit as expected. Those Express add-ons did reappear. They were limited and sold out fast. But, and this is big, the rollout this year was smooth. Like [00:02:00] heck yeah. No crashing site, no panic or widespread frustration. Everyone I know or heard about who wanted a pass was able to get one.

Kudos to Universal. They always listen and are constantly working to make our experiences better.

So, alright, let's get to the good stuff and spoiler alert, if you're not already obsessed with Unmasking the Horror tours, by the end of this episode, I might just have to check your pulse.

. If you've listened to me for more than five minutes, you probably already know how I feel about this one. I love the Unmasking, the Horror tours, like truly, they are my favorite thing about Halloween Horror Nights, possibly even more than the event itself.

That's right. I said what I said.

These daytime, lights- on tours give you exclusive access to either three or six of the haunted houses, and you get to walk through at a slower pace with a guide who knows everything about the design, the storytelling, and the hidden details baked into each [00:03:00] maze.

The scares are completely turned off. There are no Scareactors. The lights are up, and suddenly you're able to see things that you never could at night. Intricate details, Easter eggs, visual tricks, and even full on scenic story beats that you probably ran past in pure survival mode the night before. So much detail.

You'll be wondering, why do they even bother? Well, that one's easy. These haunted houses, or mazes, as we often refer to them, are 100% labors of love. Plain and simple. You want a whole new level of appreciation for artistry. This is how you get it. Unmasking the Horror.

And here's a cool part. You don't need a theme park ticket and you don't need a ticket to Halloween Horror Nights.

The tour meets at Sound stage 18, which if you're a longtime Universal fan, you'll recognize that as the former home of the Blue Man group. And if you're OG like me, the home of Nickelodeon Studios.

Other than crisscrossing the park en route, the entire thing takes place behind [00:04:00] the scenes. When the tour is over, they let you back out through sound stage 18 again, and you're on your way.

If you choose the six house version, which I highly recommend. Okay. To be fair, I highly recommend both of them, but we're talking about the six house tour .

You're gonna get a buffet style lunch included in the price for the first time ever. I haven't been able to confirm where it's going to be held yet, but my money's on Cafe La Bamba because that's where the VIP tours do their lunching.

Groups are capped at 12 guests each, , so it's totally an intimate VIP vibe. You'll also get a commemorative pin exclusive to the tour, and you can take photos in almost all the rooms. Now, this is gonna be depending on Universal's guidelines for that particular house and the agreements they have with the intellectual property owners.

And some real talk.

You can't count on seeing all 10 houses through these tours. I mean, duh, six plus three is nine, right? The max you can see is at nine.

Universal chooses which houses are included on each tour. And while [00:05:00] they give us a sort of list in advance, they always reserve the right to make last minute swaps, and that's a necessary thing. Repairs, safety issues, or even just creative decisions can shift things around. And honestly that's fair.

So if we're booking with high hopes of any specific house (Terrifier), we have to go in with flexible expectations regardless. Things happen and it's still going to be incredible no matter which houses you get to walk through. This is the best way to appreciate the craftsmanship and storytelling that makes Halloween Horror Nights so special.

If you're a horror nerd, a theme park design geek, or just someone who doesn't want to scream their way through the houses, this is the experience to book.

Alright, let's shift gears from daylight walkthroughs to something a little darker, something a little hungrier and more nostalgic. It's time to talk about Premium Scream Night.

This exclusive one night event is only in its second year, but it made such an impact last [00:06:00] year that it's already got sort of a cult following. And let me just say, last year. We were all skeptical.

It was new, it was pricey, and it had a lot to prove. But then everyone who went loved it. The feedback was completely glowing, and honestly, it brought back some serious nostalgia for all of us long time Halloween Horror Nights fans. Why? Two words. Staggered Entry! \

If you know, you know. This was the original Halloween Horror Nights experience before the event exploded in popularity.

Back then, you didn't just pour into the houses in a nonstop conga line. You went through and spaced out groups, which made it scarier, quieter, sometimes, and way more intense. It felt like you were actually alone in the house with your group. Premium Scream Night is bringing that energy back with some truly sweet perks.

This year on Thursday, August 28th, 2025, guests will get early access to [00:07:00] the full event. All 10 haunted houses. All the ScareZones, all the shows, everything. Wait times will be dramatically reduced , and entry is staggered by group to heighten the fear factor.

Oh, and did I mention that it includes all you care to enjoy food and non-alcoholic beverages. Sure does. You're not just gliding through those haunted houses, you're snacking your way through the fog. This year, they've added another huge twist. You can wear a costume. That's right for the first time ever at Halloween Halloween Horror Nights, guests are allowed to dress up. With guidelines, of course, no masks, no weapons, no prosthetics, no oversized, or you know, unsafe clothing. Think cosplay, light. You can wear a full face of makeup if you like. However, you will not be allowed to purchase alcoholic beverages.

Incidentally, that's the same policy they have over at Epic Universe .

Now I know what you're thinking. That sounds awesome, Holli, but what's the catch? [00:08:00] All right, let's talk price. So tickets this year were originally released at $350. Then quietly they jumped up to $375, and now they're sitting at a cool 400 bucks.

And as they are like to do, some people are losing their ever-loving minds online, but honestly I get it. It's no different than how Express Pass prices climb closer to the event or a day, if you're talking about the daytime Express Pass, same thing. It's a supply and demand thing and it rewards early planners.

So here's my take. For Horror Nights super fans, content creators, or anyone who wants the VIP version of opening night, it's 100% worth considering. You get a smaller crowd, which is a big deal. Early access, food, nostalgia and bragging rights, plus self-parking is complimentary, which is a nice little touch, and that's worth over 30 bucks.

Whether you're returning scream junkie, or a first timer who wants to start strong, this is a solid way to [00:09:00] experience Halloween Halloween Horror Nights at its best.

maybe haunted houses aren't your thing, or maybe you're just in it for the snacks and the souvenirs. No judgment. I see you!

Because whether you're braving the fog or avoiding it entirely, there's one stop every Halloween Horror Nights fan makes... the Tribute Store. This is the beating heart of Horror Night's nostalgia, creativity, and merch mania.

If you've never been, this isn't just a shop, it's an experience. The first Tribute Store opened in 2015 during Horror Nights 25th anniversary, and it's grown into something fans look forward to just as much as the haunted houses themselves. It started as a cool way to display props and sell some event merch. And now it has evolved into a full on themed walkthrough, complete with immersive rooms, photo opportunities, music, sound effects, snacks, layers of detail that sometimes tell their very own eerie little side stories.

Think of it like this. If the haunted houses are the main event, the [00:10:00] Tribute Store is the haunted house museum gift shop that you'd actually wanna get stuck inside. And this year, it's the 10th anniversary of the Tribute Store, 10 years of creepy callbacks, themed treats, and yes, a Lil' Boo sighting or two. As of this recording. We don't know the theme yet, but if the past years are any clue, it's gonna be awesome. It's gonna be elaborate, unexpected, and packed with details you'll wish you had more time to take in.

The Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store is located in the New York section of Universal Studios Florida, by the way. And it's open during both regular hours and Halloween Horror Nights. So even if you're not attending the event, you can still explore the store, snap some spooky photos, grab a themed treat or five, and load up on Horror Night gear like you braved every single house no one at home will be the wiser.

if you are heading to Halloween Halloween Horror Nights and planning to skip Diagon Alley, don't. Because tucked away in the shadows is one of the coolest bits of live entertainment at Universal. The Death Eaters. Thanks to very [00:11:00] specific licensing rules, the Wizarding World doesn't officially participate in Halloween Horror Nights, but the Death Eaters, they show up anyway. You'll find them lurking in Diagon and Knockturn Alley. Emerging from the fog, casting spells, sizing up potential recruits or enemies. It's eerie, it's theatrical, and it's such a cool contrast to the usual Diagon Alley vibe.

Plus the area gets a lighting and fog upgrade that really makes it feel like the Dark Lord's watching.

They haven't officially been confirmed for this year's event, but the crates, the lighting rigs, the fog machines, they've already started showing up. So yeah, it's happening. You don't need a wand, but if you've got one, bring it. And if you're feeling brave, show your Dark Mark.

Now for something a little more lighthearted, especially if you're visiting with younger guests or just want a fun side quest. For the past five years, Universal Orlando has offered a themed scavenger hunt during the fall season. And while it's not part of the Halloween Halloween Horror Nights ticketed event, it's [00:12:00] very much tied to the vibe.

This started in 2020, remember the year we needed something whimsical. And it was originally called the Scarecrow Stalk, like S-T-A-L-K. It was free at the time and featured 13 elaborately themed scarecrows and skeletons scattered across Universal Studios guests to find, after which they would collect a candy prize.

Since then, it's evolved into a paid experience around $10, with more collectible rewards, which I dig. It was renamed Lil' Boo's Trick or Seek Scavenger Hunt a couple of years ago. For those who locate all the Lil' Boo statues, collect all the clues on his treat bags, and solved his secret phrase, the prize was a themed SunCatcher ornament. This experience usually spans the Studios, Islands, and CityWalk now. And anyone can participate. It's a great crossover activity for daytime guests, families, or anyone who wants a Halloween fix without the fear. And let's be honest, any excuse to [00:13:00] follow a Lil' Boo around the parks is a good one.

All right my Scream Squad. That's a few experiences that can really take Halloween Halloween Horror Nights to the next level. But before I go, I just have to give a quick shout out to a YouTube channel I've been loving: Wicked Thrill Seekers.

The hosts, Pao and Joaq, create the best spooky and theme park content. Not only the spooky stuff, but they have a series called '10 Hours In', and this is a series from Epic Universe where they spend an entire day in each world.

It is absolutely phenomenal. It's the best Epic coverage I've seen. I've been watching them since pretty close to the beginning of their channel, and believe me, they deserve so much more attention. They're seriously all good things.

This isn't a collab or anything. They didn't ask me to say this. I'm not being paid for it. They don't even know. I hope it's okay. But I just love what they're doing and I think you might too. So I'm gonna drop a link to their channel in the show notes. You need to go check them out.[00:14:00]

And as always, if you're looking to plan your own Universal Orlando trip, Halloween Halloween Horror Nights, or otherwise, you can find all my links in the show notes.

You can even text me anytime. If you ever have a question, a suggestion, you wanna say hi or maybe share your Horror Night's win or trauma. Until next time, stay spooky, stay curious, and don't forget to look up. See you soon.

Thanks for hanging out with us. Now, get out here and go do something nice for someone.
